Will powdered sulfur on the roots of Phals. hurt?

Hello! I just bought some Phals and am repotting them and cleaned up to roots by cutting the bad ones up to the fleshy green parts. I thought I might sprinkle or dip the roots in sulpher to help with healing, but I was wondering if it would be harmful to the plants. I have repotted others at other times and sometimes I lost the plants. I just don't want any more rot to spread. Thanks for your replies. I will wait for your answers.

well, i had tried that before but sulphur has very low solubility in water, so i do not know if works as any form of prevention. but when i dip those roots in the powder, basically is only the cut end. i did not observed any harm on the orchid roots by doing that.
but if you just want to "cure" the cut end of the root, dip in in any disinfected solution of your choice then just let it be for a day or two before repotting.

but technically, i prefer dipping them fungicide solution. i used Mancozeb, read a lot on use of Physan but i had never come across it here. copper sulphate and bleach for very badly affected plant but the phals hate them.

I agree with Ian on the use of a fungicide, although I have never used sulfur on orchids I have used it on a great many other plants, but for my orchids I normally use Physan

Yes “max”, you’re right. I also agree with Ian on use of a fungicide.

I use sulfur only on the cuts, never on the healthy roots.
