During the winter I lost another spike, but it's still blooming and blooming. I don't know but it may be time to throw a few more styrofoam pieces in there. It seems to like this haphazard potting scheme so far.
This plant was an experiment and I'm not sure all phals would appreciate this type of growing media. But for this species that i'd usually only killed before; it works just fine. I got the idea after being in a long neglected nursery where the plants thrive in spite of never being repotted in 20+ years. While I skimp on potting, be sure I don't miss spraying for fungus and bugs with my "neglected" group. So far as long as I remember to spray like Cathy told me a couple years ago the orchids grow and bloom like clockwork.
