    Default Dendrobium tortile

Den tortile is quite widespread over Southern and S E Asia, even supposed to be found in Malaysia. The one I have comes from Laos via Thailand. This year only 1 leafless p-bulb has produced blooms on 3 spikes.

Supposed to be scented, according to IOSPE but I can't detect any fragrance.

Rather unruly growth habit, but lovely flowers as compensation.

Great color, especially on that last excellent macro, Yew. Since I have been on the prowl for fragrant orchids lately, I am sometimes disappointed that the scent is either very faint or missing altogether. I must design a fragrometer to run on a 24-hour cycle, just to find out whether the fragrance is time-of-day related.

The growth is very untidy - more my fault than the plant's ...... it is mounted on a piece of driftwood and I didn't tie or train the p-bulbs. Thanks for looking i.

Thanks Maura. I have a very poor nose for scents and if anyone needs one of those f.....meter then it's me.

Such a pretty little flower on these. I wouldn't turn it away for lack of fragrance!
