Funky spot

Does anyone know what this is? I've only had this plant (Rntda. Alice Crimson) a few weeks and it had lovely blooms, but this morning when I was watering I saw this and immediately I thought the dreaded "V" word.

That certainly doesn't look promising. I'd quarantine that guy right away. I don't have experience with that kind of spotting, though, so I can't advise you.

Hi Eve,
I don't think that is a virus. My renanthera plants do that when they are in heat shock so they decide to loose a few leaves. And your plant has renanthera parentage in it. So I always try to avoid that sort of things. Another possibility is that leave might have been attacked by a fungus and the plant decides to rid itself of the infection by killing that leave! So remove the yellow leaves as soon as you can do so and keep the plant at a more even/temperate temperatures (like in the 70s during the day and upper 60s at night).

Oh Hoa - I hope you are right and it's not a virus. Our weather has been a little crazy here so it's quite possible that it has been affected by some wild temperature changes.

I was in love with this plant when I got it and would be so sad to lose it.

I don't think it is a virus , here is a picture of classic CYMV. note the tie dyed effect . To be safe I would isolate it for awhile and see if the new growth is affected . Gin
