Cattleya aclandiae var. coerulea question

I purchased a young Cattleya aclandiae var. coerulea. The orchid came mounted with sphagnum. I am concerned that the sphagnum will retain too much moisture since this orchid is susceptible to root rot. I am thinking about remounting the orchid using coconut husk fiber. Does anyone have an opinion or suggestion. Thanks

How thick is sphagnum moss? If it is just a thin layer, then it should be ok. You just have to control watering.

If you still concern about root rot, try to remove sphagnum moss and replace with coconut husk fiber on the same mount if possible in order to minimize roots damage.

The sphagnum layer is thin and several main roots hang free of the moss so I will monitor but not disturb the mount. Your idea of modifying the mount in place is appreciated. i have never thought of that approach---thanks again.
