Does anyone have a recommendation for the best fertilizer needed for the above orchid. Have read of fish emulsion but there are on many selections. Fish emulsion or others please advise>

Phaius tankerville is a easy to grow terrestrial orchid. you could grow it in a potting mix made out of leaf mould, river sand and coarse perlite. You could add some dried cow dung and you could feed weakly liquid fertilizer. in the natural environment, it grows in a bog and likes to be in a moist environment. replicating it would help in growing it best

by liquid fertilizer is there any particular one you recommend?

Monica, There is no "special" fertilizer needed for them. Mine got Dyna-Grow for years, then I switched to the MSU RO formula, and now they get K-Lite. I also grow them ion S/H culture.

So I can use K-lite? Read it should be fertilized twice a week What about SOlO? No

Also, if K-Lite is appropriate can you regular water with it?
OK. Stop and think about that "twice a week" recommendation: Why? What would make that plant have different needs than any other?
I feed my plants - all of them - K-Lite 3 times a week, at very low dosage. If I fed them 1x/week, I'd triple the concentration of the solution, resulting in about the same amount of food applied.
K-Lite is intended for regular watering, SOLO, being a combination of fertilizer and KelpMax stimulant, is NOT intended for regular watering. It is intended for the grower who really doesn't want to "mess with" their plants too much - applied every two weeks, with plain water in between, and the plants will get about the same treatment I give my plants, only with less detailed effort.
If you are growing your Phaius in a soil mix, you don't need to fertilize so often. It can be fertilized like any houseplant, perhaps 1-2 times a month. The reason for this is that the soil holds the fertilizer very well. Epiphytic orchid mixes don't have any way for the fertilizer to be held, and it runs out the pot, that is why you should feed them weekly weakly.

I read that the phaius orchid because of it is fast growing requires more fertilizing. So with that being said I could use SOLO at the recommended once every 2 weeks and this would sufficient for this kind of plant. It has not been repotted since it's purchase so I am not sure what type of media it is growing in.
Sean is right about the soil versus typical orchid media.
