Paph Liemianum- A Photo Essay

This evening, as I was watching TV (instead of staring at my orchids), the flower dropped off the stem. When I examined the remaining stem, it came off in my hand. The stem was where the first leaf (lowest) on the spike is. The next bud is right there plumping up, getting ready to bloom. The next bud (#3) is visible now too. The spike has gotten rather stiff. Not at all like it was when it emerged. It probably could support the next flower without any help, but I am helping it just the same.



First flower was in bloom for 24 days.

The 4th successive flower began opening today. Still more buds lined up for more flowers.

Congrats, Harvey. It has been almost 4 months since your first post and the flower still going strong.
Yesterday, when I was in the flower shop, I had a long struggle in choosing between this one and the Paphiopedilum moquetteanum. After seeing your post, I wish I could have them both.

And I saw your post Luke about the paph moquetteanum and now I want it. Hoping the orchid nursery has one during their upcoming 'paph-apolozza' sale.

We have similar slipper tastes. But when I like them all, it's hard not to.

It's been a while since my last entry on this thread, so here is an update.

Today, the 6 successive flower opened on this guy. The first opened on January 2, 2014. I see yet another bud lined up after this one.

Well, the 6th flower was the last flower for this blooming cycle as the spike has now browned off.
