Phalaenopsis orchid - I need expert help :)

Hi everybody!
I got a problem with my phalaenopsis orchid that I have recently bought on discount. I also wanted just to have a white one Anyhow, I noticed that the orchid is wetter than it should be and I was not watering her. I assume that that is the reason also why some flower buds fell off...change of environment and climate. However, this orchid started yellowing leaves from their tips! I checked roughly the roots and I can see them nice, thick and green! The media is bark, bit wet and smells ok. This orchid was also sitting in the east window (a lot of sun in the morning) , but! behind curtain.

Pictures are attached... Any ideas???? Please help Also that yellowish area is sort of uneven with the res of the leaf but not mushy

Its hard to say what is exactly going on.
Maybe who ever care for it in store was watering later in the day, last pictures look like on one of mine sometime ago and that period i was watering in the evening.
Iven if its potted in bark check bark condition sometimes its very old and it will hold too much water.

I think I'd pull the whole plant out and check the roots internally. It's always possible the center of the root mass is in that tightly packed moss that will suffocate and rot them, or the bark is old and broken down in the middle. If nothing else, you can dry it out, be sure the roots have air and repot into new bark. It's ok for it to sit out of the pot for a day or so, you can spray the roots lightly with water if they get too dry (or dip them in a dish of water for a moment).

I'd be concerned about the new growth yellowing like that.... though I have seen that when I have soaked a Phal and the leaf tips sat in cool water for a while. When I did that the yellow did not continue up the leaf, it was local damage. Coming from a situation where it was sold on discount, I'd guess it wasn't watered properly and will need a rescue. That said, give a day or two for people to answer and consider their advice - there might be a better idea than mine for your personal situation!

Thank you for your quick responses! Bark seams fine and I dried it out. However the initial potting media, probably while this orchid was a baby some sort of sponge, which was very wet, that i completely removed. however roots seemed healthy green and all that i did is that i used a bit of hydrogen peroxide (3%) and let the roots to dry out. Than I put back the orchid and added a bit of fresh bark.

But orchid is getting more dry and yellow and has some texture on the same spot on the leaves. I haven't seen these kind of damage while googling and i am very curious and would also like to save it. @Carola - I am not sure that I understand how did you soak your Phal - like completely with leaves or just roots???? @Chemist, well I never water in evening just spray lightly bark if it was too hot. But who knows what kind of "industrial" treatment they do have before they come home

Could it be bacterial or virus infection??? On other leaves, for now, there are no similar damage. However one of the flower spike start yellowing. I do not care so much about it I just don't want it to die Maybe I should cut the infected leaves ??? :O if it continues yellowing?

I will check root once more tomorrow maybe they seemed healthy and they are not ... Thank you all once more... I will keep pyou updated...

Carol said exactly what I was going to say! It's really common for the store bought phals to have that moss core and some rot starting. I always immediately re-pot if I can. Best of luck and please let us know what you find!

On last picture yellow on leaves does not look good to me. Like you said ots some kind of rot/ disease.
Last year i lost one phal with leaves started yellowing like that. I did not know anything about orchids diseases that time so bedore i took actions its spreaded more in blink of an eye ( i noticed in the evening and by morning half lof the leaf was yellow). I cut whole leaf, but ot did not help. Whole plant was infected already. RIP. I've tried to save it but it was too late.
You cam try to saok in physan20 and see if helps. But your suggestion to cut infected portion sound right too me. Cut it off with some healty tissue, apply cinnamon on the cut.

I just want to do an update on this. After some time, it looks like that this orchid will die. The last leaf is finally going yellow and shrivelling. Never grew any new root. Maybe i did not do much about to save this orchid. However, washing in 3% peroxide, transpoting etc.... didn't do much difference....
I still keep it quarantined. Probably it had some disease...I will never know... one more lesson.
