This is a 'rescue' plant - it's indigenous to our earstern border area and was rescued from a pile of firewood, destined to fire up a local barbecue, two years ago. Sadly, we are losing a great number of our indigenous species, some extremely rare, to deforestation...:-(

Lovely!! Are the blooms fragrant? I'm glad you were able to save this one. It is horrible that so many are being lost to deforestation.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I just saw a glimpse of it in the pic of yourself thread. It was nice to see you too!!

    cheers,
    BD

They are VERY SLIGHTLY fragrant during the night - you have to have a super-sensitive sense of smell - slightly sweet, almost vanilla-ish...I have two more spikes on two other plants also rescued same time/place, so I'm happy!

    This is interesting!
Where do you plant a rescue orchid like this after you found one?

Thanks for your interest. Zimbabwe is a pretty small country and my best efforts are to offer the plants a 'home from home' replication, although the climate is slightly different - the mountains being cooler and wetter, but happily, they are thriving in my garden!
