I am not well versed in Catasetae, but some plants have different flowers for different genders. Often, it is the growing conditions that influence the plant to do one or the other. I have never heard of a single plant doing both.

PLEASE post a picture or two!

Well I tried but they are tiny. They are both unique for sure.

You can occasionally get hermaphrodite flowers with this group. Both sexes on one spike or spikes of either sex.

The picture is still too small for me to tell. Within Catasetinae, Catasetum and Cychnoches are known to produce both male and female flowers. Normally, younger plants produce only male flowers but older plants may also produce female flowers. Part of the female flower looks like a helmet.

Yes, the newest flowers look like they have helmets on. So the frilly flowers before this one must be the males. Great to know! Thanks!
