    Default Okay, OKAY!

They aren't at all beautiful like the others shown here.

The first is supposed to be an antelope type, this is the last blossom D. Laurie Mortimer is what the tag says.

This one is reblooming for me (A MIRACLE!!) Something Thai Gold it looks like, tag is in bad shape. It's more golden and maroon, instead of yellow like the picture...

    Hi Diane,

The correct tag for the first one is: Lorrie Mortimer. I of course had to see its parentage, because I'm so in love with the antelope ears!

It's a cross of two primary hybrids Samurai (antennatum x stratiotes) x Caesar (stratiotes x phalenopsis). Antennatum and statiotes are very similar in appearance and have the twisty ears that point straight up as if caught in a wicked updraft. The Dend. phalenopsis is a lovely purple with a very dark lip, but with more rounded petals.

While your ears don't twist too much, they're a much darker purple than I've seen in the pictures I've got. The ears can vary from green to light purple, and well, in your case, to a darker purpler. Very nice!

Should a keiki ever appear on your lovely Lorrie, I'll grovel...

    Default more.. more... more!!!

and so the parade of spring flowering (albeit early) Aussie Dendrobiums continues...

    1. Dendrobium (king Wong x Zip) x Red River

who never really stops flowering... this plant has been in flower most of the past year!

    2. Dendrobium Peewee x Karen Nair

this plant lost most of it's leaves because I left it out in the sun... but apart from a much shortened inflorescence, the flowers seems to be more pink this year.

    3. Dendrobium Warreen

another of my first blooming seedlings... this has taken three years for it's first bloom.. alas, the flowers aren't lasting very long... so the plant is still not really strong enough...

well, that's your blooming lot... I think the next lot will be species...

    cheers
