The bud - or your fingers???? LOL....
Ohhhh....the anticipation. Can't wait to see the bloom on this one!
Me either!
*grabs popcorn and settles in for the show*
The hieroglyphica buds opened yesterday and I snapped a photo of them this morning. I did a few quick internet searches and looked at Nelson's Phal hieroglyphica here on OT, and I don't think my plant is actually hieroglyphica after all. The color is all wrong and the markings are too blotchy. The shape appears too round as well. Maybe this is a cross made with hieroglyphica, but as far as I can tell, this is not what I expected at all. It is a pretty bloom, and has a lip hshape similar to hieroglyphica, but I just don't believe this is actually what it is labeled. Any thoughts? I am labeling it NOID.

Very pretty Bruce but certainly it does not appear to be hieroglyphica! Sorry to see this happen! Get another one, that will cheer you up.
Cheers. Hoa.
That's just awfull to get really excited about such a beautiful and well developed species and then find out it's a hybrid the hard way!
The only registered crosses with hieroglyphica are:
Hiero as seed parent:
Phal. Arlington
Phal. Polar Hieroglyph
Hiero as pollen parent:
Phal. Donna Louise
Phal. Frenchy's Plastic Yellow
Phal. Janis Barninger
Phal. Martina Lippold
Phal. Ping Ping
Phal. Yardstick
But then again it might be a much more complex hybrid..Such a shame for you BD - as suggested, go buy a real one

darn...nice bold patterning though.
