Cattleya ?Laelia? Help?

Okay...I just couldn't help myself today....they had the orchids ON SALE for ridiculous prices. I ended up with two more...one really sick looking cattleya and one little oncid that may need surgery on a soft p-bulb.
Here's the Cattleya flower....yes it's in it's final stages, but I just couldn't walk away. Any guesses? It looked like a purpurata to me, but I'm so new I just didn't want to trust that guess.

It looks like a lovely Catt hybrid, which will be tough to ID positively. I don't think it's a species, and it's not a Laelia purpurata.

Phooey....wishful thinking on the purpurata part. lol Ah well, I've decided to call it Purple Beauty. If someday I come across what it is, so much the better. Otherwise, oh well. It's a pretty one.

Dont you just love mature catt alliance plants?
You go through all the trouble of researching appropriate potting mix, pot size, etc - and they decide to just cling to the OUTSIDE of the pot and leave the inside of the pot virtually unused.

I dont even bother to replace orchid bark on some of my cattleya baskets now. Since they will just eject the bark and stick to the basket anyway lol.
