Vanda Golamcos blue magic x coerulea

Hi all. Just thought I'd post a pic of one of my Vandas that is in flower now. Sorry about the left petal...was being pushed down by the other flower's petal. Hope you enjoy the pic. It has another 2 more flower spikes forming at the moment so it will keep me going for a long while to come yet.
And yes, the roots on this thing do my head in!!!! they get into everything else in the glasshouse...he he he. Funny though, I cut one of the wondering roots off, it and it just turns around and grows 2 more in it's place!! just wished my hair grew that way!!!

That is a really beautiful color. Incredible! I haven't tried to grow Vandas yet. I heard they are very difficult to grow. Maybe one day....

They can form some impressive roots. Once saw a vanda in one of the greenhouses at the univerisity I attended. It was hanging about 4 feet above a 'pond'. The roots had grown down INTO the pond and ACROSS the pond bottom. Must have had at least 4 or 5 ft of roots growing underwater. Roots all appeared quite healthy and had koi swimming contentedly amongst them.

Geeee....thank you all for the lovely comments. And let me just say Salvador 1970, Vandas are really not that difficult to grow, seriously. This one is grown pretty cool, it has got coerulea in it's breeding and thus it tolerates cool temperatures quite well, I willl post a photo of my coerulea later this year also as it has 2 flower spikes forming on it at the moment, she is my favourite. The only hard thing I find with Vandas is watering, they need lots of water and fertiliser in summer and getting the light right. Once you have this mastered they really are very forgiving and tough plants. Give one a go, but try the cooler growing ones first. I can let you know which ones I have found really easy to grow if you like.
JFRIZZ743, this spike has been open for about 2 weeks now, though I am getting more shade on it as this upcoming week we have temperatures going up to 40C !!! again!
As for the roots PAVEL. that is an amazing story. Wow, could just imagine the Vandas doing that...he he he

Have to say, this is the 3rd year that I have had Vandas in my collection and they are soooooo addictive! I have now collected 4 species and 2 hybrids, just wished the Grammatophyllums did not take up so much room, or more Vandas it would be.

The lip is so deep and beautiful. Blue is my favorite color and I also have a couple of blue vanda. I have never seen the Golomcos blue magic but I really like it.

I guess I should post a couple of my in bloom vandas.
