The top leaf of the largest cane yellowed and fell off, so I looked closer. I discovered there was some sort of rot. I took some scissors and cut off some of the dead, brown tissue. You see, the outside of the cane looks nice and green. But the inside--eww! It's all brown and mushy and wet. Yuck. I kept on cutting down... I've cut down a good 1/2 inch of the cane, and it's still brown and rotten inside.

The inside of canes should not be brown, right? I wonder what's wrong with my dend. Should I keep on cutting? How should I treat it?

The other canes on the plant looks great. I've discovered something brown on my dend a few months ago, but I thought it was just shedding some old tissue. Now it seems like it's really "rot" and is progressing down. Aaahh!

Thanks for any help!
