What is this forum all about? Learning, teaching, making friends and sharing the ups and downs of orchid growing. Here is a perfect example.
2 years ago I visited Bruce (BD) and Louis (LJA) at their home in R-Kansas. I had never met them in person before, but had become fast friends over the forum. I spent a wonderful weekend exploring their home turf and reveling in their GH. On the second day I pointed out a couple of plants in bloom that were obviously the same orchid. A third had finished blooming. Without a thought, LJA took the post bloom plant down, said it needed repoting. He divided it, potted up the divisions, hung one back up and the other he and Bruce wrapped, packed and put in a box for me to take home. It survived the trip (Even the airport x-rays) and joined my collection. Last year it sulked (As orchids often do after repotting and/or being moved to a new environment). But this year it produced one flower. And what a flower - well over 6" across and color saturation that my camera just couldn't do justice to. This is what the forum is for, sharing knowledge, trading and selling, gifting and receiving, educating and learning, comforting and complimenting...
