A member sent me a pm asking about a cross that they have purchased and they are trying to research it and having problems. Their tag reads: Blc Golden Tang x (bl Richard Mueller x sc Daffodil)

This was my response:

Sc Daffodil would not show in your research. It used to be Lc Daffodil and is now C. Daffodil

As you know Golden Tang is a Bl Richard Muelller cross and the way your tag is written I assume Richard Mueller x Daffodil is not registered or the tag would not have been written that way.

L. milleri is now C. milleri...life is getting too confusing with these changes, LOL It was Soph milleri a few months ago. and of course was a Lealia when Richard Mueller was first registered in 1965 and let's not forget when it was Hoffmannseggella milleri. So Richard Mueller is now officially Bc Richard Mueller.

So now to Blc Golden Tang. Golden Tang was Blc Waikiki Gold x Bl Richard Mueller but of course that has changed as well ...it is now Rhyncholaeliocattleya Waikiki Gold x Bc Richard Mueller. So Golden Tang is now Rhynchobrassoleya Golden Tang..

give me a break..how do I abbreviate this one. Years of getting all this nomenclature down and now I don't even know how to abbreviate any more. I can't even figure out how they got Rhynchobrassoleya out of Rhyncholaeliocattleya x Brassocattleya. Shouldn't it be Rhynchobrassolaeliocattleya??????

It is so difficult to keep up with the changes. I knew more were coming but guess they have arrived....geeze!
