So, after fighting with several of my den types and bc types and getting no flowers; I decided to make a second area where the sun would be much more intense, while also much windier. I am using a corner of the house that gets a NW exposure. The afternoon sun can only hit the few plants that can handle that kind of sun. My reward was almost immediate; Den. Hollywood has given my four pretty buds that i'm soooooo happy about. Next time it'll be a dozen blooms...i'll get this stuff down yet! lol

Meanwhile, back out front, I've moved most of the plants into the corner to help shade some of the phals and oncids. It also makes the fans i'm using a little more efficient and I'm able to keep the plants growing inspite of the 90+ daily temps. A couple of my really amazing growers, are a Den. Anosmum and a no name Encyclia. They both have new growths as long as the ones they had when I bought them. Until this last year, I'd had a hard time getting canes to grow as tall as they should.

This one is still growing! I'm beginning to wonder how big these get?? When I stretch the leaf a little it spans my entire arm.

Somedays I still feel like I'm on an awfully steep learning curve here; other days I look at these plants and think maybe I'm starting to get it...maybe a little.
