Today was the 13th annual Orchid Society of the Ozarks Orchid Auction. Each year, for the last several years, I get to see Gin at the auction and we trade some plants. This year, like the ones before, she put a huge smile on my face. Look at what she brought for me:
Phal. Kahurangi (Phal. Brother Passat x Phal. Brother Lawrence)
Coryanthes feildingii
Coryanthes bruchmuelleri 'Thulsa Doom' x self
Bulb. Ray Gabaldon (Bulb. burfordiense x Bulb. lobbii)
Phal. celebensis
Phal. stuartiana
Eria carinata
Phrag. Mary Bess (Phrag. besseae x Phrag. caricinum)
Brassavola nodosa
Brsdm. Wild Warrior (Onc. leucochilum x Brs. Stardust)
Stellamizutaara Kelly (B. nodosa x Ctna. Keith Roth)
And, during the auction, we didn't fight over a plants as per usual, but I did leave with a couple really cool new stanhopeas that I won during the bidding :
Stanhopea Assidensis (Stan. tigrina x Stan. wardii)
Stanhopea insignis
Gin brought her duct tape to tape my bidding arms down, but didn't need it this time.I only planned to get the Stan. Assidensis, but bid on the Stan insignis because I got confused. (happens alot
) but I am so glad I got both. Gin and Sarah (Sadie) both won some cool orchids too and we hardly bid against each other.
All in all it was an excellent day. We had a lot of fun and all left with a bunch of orchids.I cannot wait to post some photos when things start blooming. Thanks to Sarah for her work in contacting vendors and arranging the auction!! And thanks to Gin for being such a wonderful friend. It was so good to see her today!
Cheers,
