I've just rescued a phal from my neighbour who had potted it in normal compost and watered it too much.

As a result a lot of the roots have rotted, I have taken it out of it's pot and cut away all the mushy and dead roots.

1 brown root 5"
1 greeny brown root 3"
1 green with a white tip 2"
4 white and green tips 0"

I washed it in luke warm water, should I have added a little house hold bleach to the water to kill germs?

It is not currently in a pot as I need to get a pot and bark organised, how long will it survive out of the pot?
