Stanhopea tigrina
The agronomy institute from my city (wich is my working place too) ownes a greenhouse (for teaching purposes) wich I recently visited. To my surprise, they have quite a large collection of Stanhopea (7 baskets), wich is quite a rarity here in Romania, and the ladies that work there were very nice and offered me a few pbulbs, if I wanted. I was wondering about the growing conditions for Stanhopea tigrina, because I really want one and I don't know about the care of this orchid. I know it comes from Mexico, and that it stands temps as low as 12° C, but that's about it. And also, I live in a temperate climate zone, with winter temps going down to -15° C, and summer temps up to 30° C so do you think I could grow it outside of a greenhouse (outdoors in the summer, indoors in the winter)? Any care advises, tips and instructions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
