This is Lycaste saccata. This is my first Lycaste and I did not know that many of the yellow Lycaste lose their leaves before they bloom. I had been growing it with my Catts., lots of HPS lighting when all of a sudden the big pleated leaves began yellowing. I thought for sure I killed it. The last leaf fell off just in time for 24 buds to appear at the base of several pseudobulbs. Here is the result. This picture was taken the day after the blossoms opened, they opened a little more but not much more. Last weekend it brought me a blue ribbon at the Ann Arbor, Mi. show. I was not sure if I needed to let it sit after blooming but by the looks of the new growth, this one will rest later......
