This plant usually double spikes for me ; this year /flowering ( since it often flowers more than once a year ) three spikes - a total of about 45 buds and flowers. Not large - of course. If you want dinner plate size flowers you need the big strap-leaved hybrids. Quite a different thing.
This is much more restrained, and delicate, i think.
The flowers are not very long lasting, maybe 3 weeks.
I contrast this with the variety ( V.lamellata, ssp (?) or just colour version (?)) boxalli - also in my collection, which is even more free flowering, and the flowers last for 3 months.

I wonder if this is just the habit of the two examples I possess , or perhaps all Boxalli
last 4 times as long ? If anyone has experience I'd be interested to know - it might lead me to look for a better example than this one.
