    Default Neocogniauxia monophylla

This must be one of my top five favorite orchid species in my collection. Intermediate to cool growing miniature species. The brightly colored flower is long lasting (~4 weeks). Flower(2"X1.75") is very large for the size of the plant too, but no fragrance.
This Jamaican(from Blue Mountain) species long had been treated as a Lealia relative, many hybridizers tried to cross it with species in the Laelia/Cattleya family but no luck...Guess what! Now, the DNA test has proved it is more closely related to Pleurothallids.
