Running contrary to really good advice NOT to disturb the roots of the first "Unruly" sesquipedale, it got soaked in water to get the roots as pliable as possible, then forced (gently) into a clay pot, had it roots trimmed and arranged so that it would look slighly more presentable, and then, finally, had a severe haircut to get rid of all browned, splotched, yellow, dying portions of its leaves. We just accepted that it would sulk for several years afterwards -

BUT

Lo and behold!!!! Look to the east on Christmas day and....

A bud!!!!

This sesquipedale is definitely a renegade. The bud may well blast - and there is another starting on the other side as well - but we're gratified - and astonished - by this phenomenon anyway....

This is Charlie, such as he is - not a beauty, but a fighter....
