All these plants had horrible roots last autumn as a result of being in a too dense media ( 6-8mm Perlite) in my S/H trays , not because of that, but because they are located below the 500 hanging plants - all the vandaceous stuff etc - which was being sprayed very enthusiastically, often twice a day. What to do about that , I said to myself ?Give up the bench plants ? Give up the hanging plants ? Impossible !
So I repotted everything ( including a few hundred cattleyas. plus oncids etc, in 12 mm Leca. They are recovering , none are in show condition ( yet ? ) , but put together they make a bit of colour for the hall - a change from all the spring flowers from the garden - daffodils etc.and maybe this will work. Time will tell.
