I like it Kelly! And I believe that your cattleyas will also thrive with this shaded area. I would wait a couple of weeks, though to see "how" they are doing before you remove anything. It's going to take them a while to ajust to new conditions. If you see ANY sign of red spots or red on the edges of the leaves, that means too much sun.
