Some of you may have seen some of the earlier shots I took of this under my "G11" thread, but THIS what I've been waiting for! It was here to greet me when I got home on Wednesday, but I've slept for 2 days, so it took me awhile to get some photos I feel come near to deserving of it. As, I think, many others working with orchids and digital cameras have found, getting the color right is particularly difficult on the red-purple-blue continuum. This is certainly no exception. The photo here has far more red in it than the real flower - the lip is a very deep, nearly purple magenta, not what I consider a sort of fuschia pink, which this photo shows. Anyway, it has a lovely, light scent, but just a hint of the "coerulea" that the parentage promised. Explains why no awards for this 90 year-old cross so far. Still, it's a nice accent in the living room.
