An orchid from the highlands of Madagascar, Angraecum magdalenae appreciates temperatures in the intermediate-warm range, medium-to-medium-bright light, and ample water. These plants can be slow in growing to maturity, but once mature, they will bloom reliably, often twice a year from any one growth (and they do tend to form new basal growths after some time).

The flowers are scented during all hours of the day and night but much more intensely at night. The fragrance smells to me like a mixture of gardenia, jasmine and wisteria. Note the long spur containing nectar at its tip...a good indication that a nigh-flying moth is the likely pollinator.

Flowers last 3-4 weeks.
