So life got a little bit crazy and the orchids got a little bit neglected in the past few months. It was a definitely a nice surprise when I noticed a few spikes during this time. These have already passed their blooms but I'm just now getting to posting them. Sadly I did lose an orchid or two. I've been slowly getting back on track with them and perking up with the orchid bug again.
(sorry if i don't have the proper names and for the quality of the shots. my camera is not working properly so I to borrow an older camera i'm not used to)
The Pontinara Blazing Gold 'Hot Flash' and Onc. 'Twinkle' were purchased earlier this year at an orchid show in bloom, these are the first reblooms for me. The Pontinara starts off as a bright sunny yellow then turns more to a gold/yellow that is shown in the picture. I prefer the brighter shade it starts out with which is what attracted me to it to begin with.
Epc. Siam Jade 'AVO'- I thought these stayed green but it ended up turning to yellow. Which I liked anyway. This is the first bloom for this plant, I bought it as a plug a couple years ago. This one has taken off compared to the others from the set. It has about 10 new roots and a new growth now. The first spike didn't make and I wasn't expecting to see another so soon
The Ludisia discolor x Anoectochilus formosanus I bought last Christmas as a young plant and so this is also the first bloom for it. I didn't get a picture of the full blooms. They started to dry before being all in bloom. I really like the leaves and may skip the spikes next time.
