people from my office got an orchid a while ago. i don't know what they did, probably over watered it but the pretty leaves all fell off so they just snipped it down so it was only green leaves, and a stub...i took it home to care for it but it was in a green-ish media in a small container barely the size of a shot glass...i'd get some new, green leaves the green leaves would grow but get a little yellow and stop growing...a month or so ago i repotted it in some of that special orchid potting mix, and started to give it a good watering once a week, or whenever the green media would get a little dry...soon after potting, this one leaf grew like crazy, it really took off, became twice as large as any other leaf on the plant...the plant as a whole was really looking good even though it's just green leaves and no flowers...but then the other day i put the plant out in the sun and when i came back a few hours later the one huge leaf was all limp and lifeless looking, although just as green and a little wrinkly looking...the other smaller, older leaves look just the same as they used to, no changes to them...so i brought it back inside, did an inspection the lower roots are white-ish looking but the upper roots are still green...and there IS a blackness around the stem...thoughts?...i'll try to post a pic later..
