Is this cymbidium orchid still alive?

Hi!
I got this cymbidium from my teacher earlier. She had divided her cymbidium and gave this to me. This is my very first cymbidium and I am totally clueless on how to take care of it. I wasn't able to ask my teacher anything because she took off before I got to ask her.

In short, I turn to you for help.

Is this cymbidium still alive? Are the roots dead?




Can I still salvage this cymbidium? What are the things I can do to make it grow healthy?
