I have difficulty holding the plant in my hand at the correct height etc whilst potting and more often than not I finish up with the orchid either too high or too low. I devised the following method to make it a little easier and I feel that others may be interested in using it. Especially those who may have a physical disadvantage.
Firstly, I make four holes opposing each other in the top rim of the pot and at the height that I want my orchid to be. To do this I use an electric drill or leather punch. I then insert two metal or wooden skewers through the holes.
.
I can then sit my plant on the skewers and arrange the roots before adding the potting medium.
