Well, Mehera, orchids for the dreary days of winter that can tolerate a somewhat cool-ish, and dry-ish conditions?
Oncidium intergeneric and catts come to my mind first. Paphs is another good choice. Species is hit or miss, and you don't know until you try. Masdevallia is certainly a possibility. If you are going to try cymbidium, why not some zygo hybrids? They grow like cymbidium and flower during fall to early winter. Very fragrant blooms and their scent alone is worth the effort. Just take them inside the house during months with frost and let them spend late spring/summer/early fall outside.
