Gongora galeata
I expect I have shown this before - it is a regular annual bloomer for me. This year it had six spikes - two from each of three of the four leads, none from the fourth which looks to be the same size bulb....
Growing in a 5 inch saucer pot- not that it needs a saucer and anyway I have cut it so that it drains like any other pot. But a shallow pot is what it wants, and it seems impossible to get anything other than the standard shape of pot, over here, nowadays. I don't know what the alpine gardeners do - they need pans, maybe they are still using ancient clay ones, recycled - I shall have to go to one of the Alpine Garden Society Shows next spring and see what I can discover.
Has been in this pot for some years now. All four lead bulbs have started new growths, I intend to repot fairly soon, perhaps using just sphagnum moss, which is what it seems to be in now. ( I can't remember what I used several years ago - I chop and change, and often have several different favourite mixes - this week I have repotted some Phrags in rockwool cubes, some Cats in a mix of bark, rockwool and moss, some dendrobium keikis in pure moss, etc etc....)
