Default My visit to Tindara Orchids

Okay, so I had my first ever visit to an orchid greenhouse, yesterday, Tindara, in Georgetown, MA. About an hour for me - just far enough!
They specialize in slippers (how about that?!) and have a small greenhouse at their home, but 5 large ones up in New Hampshire. Mostly dealt in hybrids - lots of phrags, which was nice. One followed me home (the first pic there!) It was really nice to see how you vendors out there actually do the growing. It was 90% humidity in there (I wilted!) and lots of fans. Was a muggy and cloudy day though so I couldn't get a good feel for lighting. Below are some of the plants. I tried to get a pic of his Paph. Bel Royales, since we were just talking about that the other day, and he had 6-8 of them hanging, at least 3-4' leafspan, maybe bigger! Pic was awful tho, sorry. I did get a nice pic of his malipoense (not for sale,) an Eric Young/schlimii cross (very nice!!), forgot to take a pic of the Lynleigh Koopowitz, I was too busy sniffing the delicious raspberry fragrance! There are some moquettianum pics...he had a lot of those hairy little guys, was fun to see them in person. I was a little overwhelmed - sorry I didn't get more/better pics. I also seriously debated getting an Andean Fire which was blooming with I think 3 open blossoms, but had 4 or 5 more coming. That will be a spectacular sight, but big and a little redundant for me I suppose...so stuck w/ just the Penn's Creek Cascade. Whew, anyway, it was a fun day (we went out for lobster first - really can't get better than that! Lobster and orchids in one day! )
