Good idea to soak it....it may only be wired or attached with monofilament line which once cut ,the orchid should come off easy. They usually have a pad of spaghnum moss they rest on,too. You should have no problems...be sure it does have active root growth...if not I would wait ....it is going to be quite a shock going from mounted to SH....Good Luck!
