A friend gave me a very pretty moth orchid as a thank you gift. I keep it in the lounge, very sunny but not direct sunlight. It has been flowering for three months at least five blooms plus one or two buds. A new stem has grown. There are also five roots growing. How do I get the new stem to flower? I have trimmed it above a node. It is summer here, New Zealand. I have given it a cup of water once a week since I was given it. No plant food - I didn't know it's supposed to have some. My friend said not to feed it. I have no idea what it is growing in. My friend knows even less than I do. It's such a lovely plant, I'd really like to take care of it. Any hint, please?I've never had an orchid before.
