Help! I recently ordered some Dendrobiums to add to my expanding orchid collection. The plants were shipped bare root and seemed to be in decent shape despite the weather here (freezing!). I have two questions about these new plants since I am new to dendrobiums.
1) The plants were sold in spike but one spike broke in transit and the other seemed to have been aborted (withered and fell off). Is there any way I can encourage respiking? (cut at node like phals).
2) Two of the plants seem to be suffering. Their leaves are yellowing and dropping and there is yellowing rings around each node on the canes. What could cause this (stress? overwatering? cold drafts?) Is there anything I can do? They are by the window now which provides plenty of light for both my catts, phals, and oncidums, and there is only a little cold air that can get in but mostly my apartment is around 73-80 degrees.
Thanks for any help!
PS How do you post images that aren't at a URL? I can send pics if that helps.
