I've found some mushy roots on 3 of my catts. The new growths seem to be fine and one has new roots growing just above the mushy ones. What can be the cause of such black and mushy roots and how can I fix it?

I know it's about the billionth question I have asked; I just keep on finding new issues with my babies.
