Around here they sell one that looks like that it's named Mabel Kanda I think....it's like an Enc. or Epi. Our local big box store has those all the time. I almost bought one a couple times. Your's is lovely, nice growing.

Thanks Connie. "Mabel Kanda" rings a bell, that might be it, I did purchase it from a big box store, I think it was the one with the blue lights.

I did a little research and Epi. Mabel Kanda is a cross made in 1959 by crossing Psychilis atropurpurea (syn. Epi. atropurpureum) and Epi. floribundum, so I think we are on to something here. Thanks.

Glad to be of help...I love being able to name my Noids as well. Although, I've taken to giving mine nicknames....my gram. elegans has been nicknamed "Funky Cold Medina" so my hubby can remember it's the weird one. lol

Epidendrum atropurpureum is the old name of Encyclia Cordigera, so it all makes sense ...

Yep, the RHS database lists it as Epicyclia Mabel Kanda, Seed Parent Encyclia cordigera, Pollen Parent Epidendrum densiflorum. Registrant Shimamoto 1/1/1959.
