Froggy

Fishponds and swimming pools don't mix... especialy when you live a stonethrow from a river! I get a frog in the pool just about every other day...

My cat from the city found this one hopping around in the dark last night... He has never seen a frog before, or much anything else, as he is aplay inside the yard and sleep inside the house cat... it was fun watching him try to come to grips...

Sadly it was dark and this was the only picture the AF beam managed to get right. The little toad's front feet also look like that.. as if adapted for climbing or digging more than swimming.

He is pretty small still, he is sitting on a regular brick.

I put him into the rainwater runoff pipe the goes over to the river's side
P.S. he is totaly not slimey...

He is a cute little guy. His eyes see so large.

Nico is it a poisonous toad? The warts on its back very rough.

Ag no, groing up here, my cats used to eat them until you see only white foam... luckily the cats I have now are sissies....

They are perfectly cute frogs or toads... appart from birds there are not many predators of them here... so they get by useing only cammo.

My old Great Dane tried one once, only once ! Put it in her mouth and let go in a hurry did not damage the toad .
We have a lot of bull frogs in the farm pond they can really sing . Off and on I find the tiny tree frogs on the porch . Thanks for sharing yours .. Gin

Cute!! I love frogs. That is a really cool one - very interesting with this big eyes...must be a nocturnal frog. Its fun to see animals from the other side of the world!!!

Also notice how the eyes are not above the body line like other frogs and toads that needs to look at the world half submerged in water...

Frogs are a good indicator of the environmental health of an area, as their skins absorb water as well as dissolved polutants... If I had to choose a drink from a river with frogs and one without.. I go for the one with frogs.

It appears to be toad to my eye. cute little guy! Toads are more active at night so that makes sense.

We have/had some realy cute raintoads here too cute as a button... looks like little blowup frogs... about the size of a winecork, but the legs are so short the feet hardly reach the ground...
