frost

Hey guys,

I had to take my orchids home with me for Christmas break, however they got a MAJOR cold draft going to and from the car and being in the car over night. I hope I didnt kill them, but they have all turned a very muckey green and slowly turning brown. PLEASE tell me I haven't completely killed them. Any help on how to keep them alive and thrive? I only have one little window at the dorms so if I have to purge some then I will. I just really don't want to. Are they as good as dead? Thanks.

i've moved plants from dorm/apartment to car. no real issues except maybe with buds. leaving them in a car overnight, however, can be the kiss of death, depending on how cold that car got. if it was below freezing outside, that car would have likely been an icebox on the inside.

I agree with what Jason said.....just a chill from going outside can cause you to loose blooms and buds.....but if you left them in the car over night with frosty temps,then yes it probably was the "Kiss of Death". Turning brown is not a good sign...sorry.
When we travel and I find orchid baragins, I always take the orchids into hotel rooms so they can rest comfortably,too.
