Got from a friend who was quitting for awhile nursery label says Peggy Ruth Carpenter sure dosen't look like My Peggy Ruth Anybody have a clue
It is sort of hard to tell with the coloring from the photo, but it doesn't really look UNlike Peggy Ruth. The blooms are quite greenish when fresh and age to a more pink or purpley color. Tahoma Glacier Green however also looks similar in shape and spotting, though generally wider flowers and quite a bit greener. Still, I wouldn't rule out Peggy Ruth just based on that photo.
Keep in mind it could be a different clone of Peggy Ruth Carpenter. Every seedling produced by crossing Beallara Tahoma Glacier x Miltonia Purple Queen is a Bllra Peggy Ruth Carpenter. My software illustrates three different clones, 'Her Majesty', 'Everglades' & 'Morning Joy'. The last one is the most typical of the ones I've seen, and not that different from yours, but Her Majesty & Everglades are nothing like your plant--they're fairly solid purple. I echo Hcubed's comments on not ruling it out.
Cheers,
Rob
I would say it is labeled correctly. If you do a Google Picture search, you will see the variation in this one. There are pics that look just like this flower. It has been my experience that temperature can make a big difference with this type of cross. Cooler temps give greater color and fuller form.
Not sure about the ID but a very nice flower. Interesting how the spots are clearer on the lip than on the sepals/petals.![]()
I agree with the others on this one. It seems to be Peggy Ruth Carpenter, just not the typical purple color.

Thanks as always I'm always going to let nature take it course. My friend told me it never bloomed for him but he grew his on a window sill. (he quit because of the upcoming birth of twins.which turned out to be 1 boy 1 girl the orchids would have NEVER SURVIVED. Personally after 6 kids of my own I like Orchids no dirty diapers)
But I'm just babysitting his orchids until his kids are 21 I would 86 by then I probably wouldnt be messing with orchids then anyway.
