Stem emerging from leaves in a loop!

I was excited to see a "nub" a while back emerging for a bloom stalk this year but instead of a straight little stalk starting to grow, it is now a complete loop the size of a quarter. The tip is CONNECTED back into the plant. I fear it is an anomoly and there won't be a stalk with the those wonderful buds.
Should I cut it carefully at the end of this "loop"?

The growing tip has caught in the stem and if you are very carefull you can ease it out but be aware they are very brittle and snap more often than not.

I broke one that had done that....Tednz is right...be very careful when easing it out! Good Luck...

Yes, a before and after pic if possible! I generally break them off by accident when this happens. (Darn big thumbs... LOL)

Yes that is what you need to try to do...gently spread the leaf while you apply all so gentle pull on spike

A couple of times I have pulled on the wrong end one does not get far like that.

Thanks, folks, for your interest. I did ever so gently pull on curled spike and I was able to release the tip just abit. Of course it is still very curled. Will try to get a photo up soon. Huge snowstorm in seacoast of NH today.

If you can give it directional light it should grow toward it and straighten out in that direction.

Thank you, Mycologist. I will "direct" its growth hopefully....perhaps more malleable than children!
