Blooms in March

Some of my white phals are in blooms, but have to wait the full blooms few weeks later.

there is something beautiful about these white phallies that are not quite in the newere rounder hybrids (not to take away anything from the beauty of the round white phallies as well of course)... are these species? amabilis?

Yes, they are.
P. amabilis are my favor I collect many this species from the original type. As you see above, only the 1st is amabilis from Sulawesi, the rest are P. aphrodite from Taiwan and Philippines.
I will keep to post the other amabilis or aphrodite. I guess I have collected most of the amabilis from the major areas except the Australia. I am waiting for the clone from my friend, he said the eastern NG is the same type as from northern Australia.

Hi Edward, the Australian variety is sometimes known as Phal rosenstromii... it has actually been line bred to the point where the segments are now also very filled in and sometimes it's difficult to tell the species from the hybrid

Hi bench, the formosa variety also face this issues. This variety was hard to find in the wild sice the second half of 50's. This one I post above was a clone from a parent found in 1954.
This species has been comercalized for decades, on the contrary, the original are very rare to find now.
