When you get ready to "renovate", you should consider using a large barrel to collect your air conditioner water, or place a nice rain barrel somewhere...the orchids love rain water and a/c water. Having a cool floor may be a bonus as clay pots sat on shelves over a cool floor may help with humidity inside, and a new ceiling fan blade will help the cool air circulate.
