New Orchids or "Where on EARTH can I put this?"

Hi all,

Well, this past weekend was my OS show & sale. I went a little nuts. In spite of my intentions to limit my buying, I somehow wound up with 13 new plants. Hmm, where are they gonna go.

I have a question. I bought, or otherwise acquired 9 paphs. Does this make me a paph-head? Tim? Hoa? Jason? Your thoughts, please!

I had pre-ordered 2 from one vendor, but the other 7 were sheer madness, involving a total of three vendors at the show. Even weirder, I somehow wound up taking a phrag. (Actually, I got it with the intention of trading it for some paphs a friend had offered me, but now I'm kinda leaning toward keeping it.)

I did do a little more "normal" (normal for me, I mean) purchases. I bought a in-spike Psychopsis from one vendor and a couple of Tolumnias from another. I may post some photos of the blooming plants.

Oooooh please give us some photos! sounds like you got yourself some lovely plants, I am rather fond of all of them so when I go to the show in May near us I think I will be banned from buying any more by my husband, but its just after our wedding anniversary so you never know a few batting eyelashes and a pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese might get me somewhere !

You did go crazy a bit, Rob but I think most of the people on the forum are the same way. I never think of where the orchids I order will go before ordering them,
it's some kind of a mental block of some sort!
This way I can order more than what I should, I guess.

Well Rob, I was going to say that you are tethering on being a Paph addict... and then you decided not to trade a Phrag for a Paph and as close as they are, there's still a divide... so there's still hope for ya!

hey, if it's any consolation, I came home with 8 cattleyas yesterday, but I did buy a Paph philippinense just to remind myself what it's all about... now, i just have to wait a couple of years till these babies grow up!

Well, glad I don't come across as crazy. Mind you, as Laurent so correctly points out, this is perhaps not the most objective group. Unfortunately, Larry, a greenhouse is tough to heat in my climate. Don't get me wrong, it certainly can be done, but it's quite an undertaking. And, while there is room on my coffee table, there isn't enough light. Oh, well! Tim, I didn't actually say I wasn't getting that Paph--I just may have to buy it, instead of trading! LOL

At any rate, y'all seem to express an interest in seeing them, so here's a group portrait of 8 of the 9 Paphs. (The last one didn't fit in my "studio".)

From left to right Bo-Ying Chow, fowliei X hennisianum, Yi-Ying Northern Lights, Pinocchio, Harmon Andrews, Ano Puddle 'Eureka' AM/AOS X Skip Bartlett 'White Pepper' HCC/AOS, hainanense, & Chen Samn Colorful. Missing is Macabre.

You've seen the Bo-Ying Chow, and I will also post blooming shots of the fowliei X hennisianum, Yi-Ying Northern Lights & Pinocchio (all three are in spike, although the Pinocchio is a long way from blooming) whenever they get around to gracing me with their flowers. (Can't wait!!)
