Den burana gold in trouble

ok, I need help again. My den Burana Gold is in trouble. Leaves from the new growth have turned yellow/black. I water it once a week and I practically spray it every day. It dries out completely before I water it.

Right now, the humidity in my area is about 40%. I water Den Burana White once every 10 days, no misting. It is in clay pellots with a small water reservoir that dries out before I water again. What is the humidity in the area where you ave your den?

Humidity is approximately 57%.

The misting might be too much for your den? Anyone else with an opinion on this?
Might try letting the den dry out a bit more before watering.

It looks like maybe water has been sitting in between the leaves and is causing it to rot.

The crown of the new growth got wet (and cold), and bacteria decided to have a picnic.
In warmer/drier conditions the crown would dry up within minutes of watering.

You can pluck out the infected leaves on top, and keep the crown dry. With any luck, the growing tip might still be ok and it could continue to grow new leaves. Otherwise you will need to wait for a new growth to emerge next season.

Also, you should apply a disinfectant on the plant and other nearby plants as well as a precaution.
You can use commercial disinfectants (Physan-20, etc).
But you can also use any household dishwashing soap that has "Anti-bacterial" marked on the label. Mix a solution of 1 or 2 drops per gallon and apply to the entire plant.


Some things to consider in the future:
1. Temperature - these types of dendrobium like it warm (70F to 90F) and very bright light. Conditions that would dry up any rainfall in their crowns quickly.
2. Increase air circulation. If you cant raise the temperature, increase the air circulation to force more evaporation from the leaves.
3. Without the two items mentioned above, if you have the urge to mist/spray, spray only the roots and the potting medium.
