That looks like stem rot to me and it can quickly be fatal.
You can take a fresh razor blade or cutting instrument and cut out the affected parts and treat the plant with some Hydrogen Peroxide. Pour the peroxide over the affected areas and be careful to keep the tight spaces inside the leaves dry. Rot can start easily here.
ive cut some pieces off...how do i go about putting peroxide on it?
The orchid could also use a repotting. Remove the rotted/ dried-out roots and while it is out of the pot, pour the peroxide all over the infected area.

Rot caused by overwatering ... forsure ... always wait till plant is completely dry ... then wait another 2 days, before watering! Many a good orchid has been killed by kindness.
